"I have something going for me then," she snorted with a smile. For the moment, she was going to take it lightheartedly but she spotted the tightness around his eyes.
Piper watched him for a long moment before lifting her head to look at anything but him, swallowing a lump in her throat. "Yes, I would have normally have healed this by now. What changed is, my cousin died... was killed. We were part of a prophecy and now with her gone, I'm not sure if that part of the lore is correct. I haven't put myself in direct harm like this in a while."
The words sort of tumbled out both explaining and not explaining at the same time.
"And it's just my luck that the bitch who stabbed me found something, some kind of poison, to dip her knife into." She grit her teeth, annoyed with both herself (for not being prepared for that) and with the witch that one day she would find.
