Piper grinned as he laughed. She appreciated that he saw the humor in the situation because she was honestly the same way. "It goes to show, you can't escape the shit show of life, magical powers or not."
Her grin grew wider. "Can you write that on a note so I can throw it in their faces next time? Though I sometimes question if many of them can read." Maybe she was serious or maybe she just wanted to see if she could make him laugh for the third time. He had a nice laugh.
"No, honestly - thank you, for this," she said motioning to her side and the few viles she still held in her hand. "Creating wards for your place of business is the least I can do." Piper made a face at the thought of servitors and shook her head. "I get that."
Piper took a moment to evaluate how her body felt, she was at the same time exhausted and yet filled with just enough adrenaline to keep her going for another few hours. And she was famished.
"I don't suppose there are any restaurants or diners still open at this hour, are there?"
When was the last time she'd eaten? She couldn't remember. Likely earlier that morning.
