It would be a long time before Piper would forgive herself for nearly losing Jordan and David that night. She'd had a dumb and ridiculous argument with Jordan that was partly caused by stress, exhaustion from their jobs and simple young adult miscommunication but that had left them on the outs with each other. Piper regretted not going on patrol with them the moment they stepped out of the door. It had been her pride that kept her from going after them. And, honestly, historical knowledge that once they spent a few hours apart, they'd be good to go.
They were lucky (they all were) that Ben and her arrived when they did when the ambush happened. Before it got any worse or the two were overwhelmed, between the four of them, they were able to clear them out. Truthfully, the time from when they arrived, fought and returned to Majestic with David and Jordan out for the count was a blur. They'd laid the two on one of the beds upstairs and Ben had assured (and reassured) her that they were both alive but were exhausted.
At least, that's what she was certain he'd told her the last time she asked if he was sure they were okay.
She had watched as he forced some of his blood down David's throat then walked over to where Jordan lay next to him. She hated when they fought and while she knew that fighting and arguing were par the course, it didn't make their situation any easier. Truth be told, Piper didn't know what she'd do if they had lost either of them. Truthfully, she had to push down the urge to not go after everyone involved right away who wasn't already dead. Instead, she reached out and took one of Jordan's hands in her own and shared some of her magic with her. Hoping that it would help speed up her recovery.
"I'm so fucking sorry," she whispered to her then looked at David and reached over, picking up his hand in hers. "I should have been there from the beginning."
There was no use in playing the pity game and 'shoulda/woulda/coulda', she knew that. Still, it was hard knowing they could have lost them both. And there was, admittedly, a part of her that worried that they could still lose them both.
"I swear to every single holy power that I know of, if either of you die on me... on us, I will bring you back and kill you myself," she muttered.
"That's definitely going to make them want to wake up - threats from Piper Allison," Ben remarked dryly, walking into the bedroom. Though truth be told, he was worried about them too. Things were shaky until Jordan's birthday in a few months. Until she was twenty one, she wasn't quite as immortal as Piper and they hadn't fully come into their powers yet. He was sure that was one of the reasons why the ambush happened tonight because they knew that they had limited time to take out one of the Enchanted.
For once, Piper didn't have a sassy quip in response and just sighed. "I know," she said and squeezed both Jordan's hand and David's hands gently. "I just... want them to wake up."
There is nothing but darkness. For a brief moment there had been pain, fiery and sharp, and then nothing. David has no idea how long he's been like that, whether it's moments or hours or even days. In truth it's split, wandering in that darkness for hours as if there vastness of the universe held him in that moment.
He comes to with barely a movement. Just slowly there is light on his eyelids, enough to make him realize he's likely been moved. It's like a veil lifted and suddenly he hears others, voices, and he knows he's survived though at what cost? And had someone else been lost.
Barely moving, shifting his fingers to try and figure out where he is without alerting others in case it's not safe. Yet he feels someone there, not by touch but he knows she's there.
"Please tell me, at least, they didn't ruin my suit," he murmurs softly without opening his eyes.
It had been four days since the fight, four days since the ambush, and ultimately since she had spoken to Jordan and David. During those four (very long) days, Ben continued to give a bit of his blood to David and Piper shared a bit of her magic with Jordan. Truth be told, they probably didn't need to as much because the two were strong in their own right (stronger in some cases) but they hoped it would help them wake up sooner and speed up the healing process. After that first night, Ben moved Jordan back to their room and Piper settled into their room with David.
While Piper had made sure Jordan's job and her own were covered (though Jordan's job could go suck it), the last thing either of them needed was for them to be fired due to a 'no call no show'. Ben, meanwhile, had made sure Chantment was covered during their absence. Considering they were the bosses and had hired decent people, that was thankfully easily enough.
She'd tried not to hover.. much, but it was hard. Every day, both seemed to be getting stronger and Ben had told her just the night before that they could be waking up at any minute. Piper really hoped so because she missed David's voice and she wanted to make up with Jordan after that fight.
Piper was staring at a blank word document when he spoke. She blinked before she stood quickly from the chair she'd been sitting in, sat the laptop aside then walked quickly over to the bed. "I told you to not wear that suit on patrol," she said, her tone teasing though as she sat down next to him and picked up his hand. "It has some blood stains so, it'll be the perfect Halloween costume later this year."
"What else was I supposed to wear? I'm not going to look bad just because some assholes decided to start a war."
And he believes that is what's happened to. Once they know exactly who they're at war with.
Laying there still, unmoving for a moment as his mind accesses everything that he can. He feels whole and well. He feels that he's in one piece. In truth, he feels better than he had before they had faced an unknown assailant coming at them out of nowhere.
"I guess maybe I needed the rest," he mutters, making easy jokes rather than actually taking this moment serious. He's angry, and he wants to see people pay. But he also knows he wants to make sure that Piper is okay, that she's not upset. Or more upset than she needs to be.
Slowly he shifts, rolling to face her more fully, his fingers curling around hers. "How's Jordan?" He vaguely remembered him being hit by whatever it was too. "Tell me he's okay."
Piper smirked in amusement. "Hm, I don't know, something you wouldn't mind getting a bit of blood on?" She couldn't disagree with him though. It was something that kept going through her mind, over and over on repeat. They knew, everyone in the underworld knew that Jordan was the last ditch effort to ensure they didn't become an issue to them. Meaning, if Jordan was gone, Piper was only half of what they could be when their powers came together.
It was, effectively, declaring war between the four of them (and their various allies they've formed over the years) and those who sought to take them out. Piper wasn't surprised it happened, she figured something had to happen in the lead up to Jordan's birthday but the timing could have been better.
Slowly, Piper laid down next to him and watched his facial expressions and then allowed herself a smile. "I could have told you that you needed the rest but that would be a bit hypocritical of me." She was the last person to talk about resting since more times than not, she piled the things on until she burned herself out. It had happened often enough.
She tightened her hand around his. "Last I checked, she seemed to be doing fine. I've been giving her some of my magic, hoping it'll help speed up her recovery process." Piper paused, feeling her anger rise again as she thought about that evening. "The two of you were ambushed. Ben and I counted... ten... maybe fifteen various demons, vampires, and a few witches. We're still not sure what took the two of you out exactly but we got there as soon as we heard you both reach out. Between the four of us, we managed to get seven/eight of them but the rest disappeared once they realized their chance was shot." Her hand tightened more around his then lessened the hold once she realized.
What she didn't say just then was how angry and relieved both she and Ben were. Angry at those who thought they could take them down and relieved that they'd gotten there as soon as they could. "I imagine he'll be in soon." Piper leaned in and pressed a slow kiss to his lips. She still felt so guilty and while she knew it wasn't the cause of this whole thing, it hadn't helped.

"Oddly, given the choice, I don't want blood on any of my clothes. I've always been much cleaner than that." Though it's not a time for jokes like this, and he knows it.
It's why he shifts as she lays next to him, making room even as he moves to slide his arm around her and pull her in closer. His frown deepens then though, hugging her a bit tighter.
"She's going to be okay," he whispers softly, stroking his hand along her back. "We'll make sure of that." And he had every faith in that because losing her was not an option. There just was no chance of that in his mind. He couldn't let it happen. None of them could.
He shakes his head, listening to what happened. "We have to find out what they used before they strengthen it and hit again." They had barely escaped this time. If they made it any stronger, they would be down for the count.
Kissing him back tenderly, his fingers brushing through her hair. "Hey, I'm okay. That's what matters, okay?"
"That's fair. I would only expect you'd be a clean eater by this point in life," she mused with a little smile. Honestly, jokes or not, she was just glad to hear his voice, to feel his arm around her again, and to talk to him. After the last few days, it was the small things that she didn't want to take for granted.
Piper exhaled a soft breath as she pressed in closer to him, her arm tightening around him. "I know, I can feel she's okay," she said and fell quiet for a moment. "And while I'm angry that they did this... it's not completely unexpected either. I just hate that we had that stupid fight."
She nodded and slides her nose along his jaw. "Yeah, I agree. We do. We have until October for this bullshit. I imagine it's only going to get worse if they think they can take her out." Piper was not going to let that happen, if she can help it. If any of them could help it.
"I know. I'm really glad you're okay," she murmured against his lips, pressing another kiss to his mouth when she heard a little knock then the door open.
Ben had felt the moment David woke and after making sure Jordan was still resting, decided to get up and check on him. He poked his head through and looked toward the bed, smiling a bit. "Glad to see you're among with the living again... so to speak." He wouldn't stay long but he'd wanted to see for himself that he was okay.
"I would hope so," he says with a snort. "Both that I am and that you would expect that of me." At this point he damn well better be. Yet there's a hint of a smile on his face as he strokes his hand over her back.
He nods at that, glad to hear that from her. "How okay is okay? Can you tell?" Because he can't help but to wonder if she's coming back to them like she had been, or if they would have to adjusted to something new with her. They could, and they would, but he couldn't help but worry. For all of their sake.
Kissing her back, slow and deep, wanting to show to her how much he loves her and is as glad as she is that he's there. "Me too. It's going to be okay." It has to be okay.
Shifting to lift his head, looking at Ben. "You guys are good but entirely bringing me back from the dead is beyond even the best I know."
Piper laughed. "I should hope so too, otherwise I may need to rethink this whole thing," she said with a teasing grin. Though, after the last few days, she clearly wasn't very serious about it in the least.
Having his arms around her, talking with him and joking with him was everything she'd wanted since that night. Hell, just seeing him open his eyes had been enough. At the question though, Piper focused on the bond she shared with Jordan and made a soft sound when she felt Jordan's magic seek her out. It was something that hadn't happened in the last few days and so was both a surprising and much needed sign. "Okay enough where for the first time I can feel her magic seek me out. I imagine she'll be up soon. I only hope that she's the same Jordan..."
Fuck it felt good to have his mouth on hers again and well, hell, to just be here. To have him awake and hear his voice. She would try not to take that for granted again. "It has to be okay," she agreed in a murmur before focusing on the conversation with Ben. Despite not always getting along, they'd gotten along better this last week than they have in a while.
Ben shrugged a shoulder, sending him an amused smile. "You know we gave it our best shot. I think we're both just pleased you're still here... both of you. If only Jordan will wake up now." If there was one thing for certain, he wanted every single person involved in the attack to be made responsible.
"I would want you to rethink it. I would want you to change things entirely if I was that careless." But hadn't he been that way that they got injured like this? He can't help but wonder what he could have done to change things.
Logically he knows there's nothing he could have done, but that also doesn't change that feeling of responsibility that he's feeling.
That feeling that leads to his arms tightening around him, holding her closer because he could have just as easily lost her as anyone else. They hadn't lost anyone but that doesn't change how he feels.
A brow arches at that, canting his head to look at her more closely. "Even now you can feel it? Okay." He nods at that, nuzzling her cheek tenderly. "She'll be okay."
They all will, and then he'll go from there. He'll find the answer and who they have to go after who was behind this. Until then though, it's just making sure that everyone is okay and that they're taken care of.
He shifts to focus on Ben, giving him a nod. "We have this. She's going to be okay. We'll make sure that she'll be okay." No matter what it takes.
Piper watched him with a little grin, cupping his cheek with her hand. "Well, considering who and what we are, if you were that careless, I doubt we'd be here. Our lives demand a certain amount of care at the end of the day."
She fell silent for a moment after she said it and considered the fight she'd had with Jordan and then the resulting battle that night. "If I didn't know Majestic as well as I do, I'd almost suspect someone bugged the house and knew just when to catch you two off guard." But, she was sure they hadn't fully expected David to be there with Jordan instead of herself and/or Ben... or all four of them.
"Yeah, I can feel it stronger today than I have since the fight. She'll be okay," she agreed because there was no other choice. She had to be okay. And if her magic was seeking Piper out then there was an awareness there, right?
She exhaled a small breath when he nuzzled her cheek and smiled. Fuck, she'd missed this. Missed him.
"I was telling David that for the first time since that night, I can feel her magic reaching out through the bond. So hopefully that's a good sign," she said, looking at Ben. "She'll wake up soon and she'll be okay. Then... we can sort out what we do from here."
Ben nodded with a relieved sigh. That was promising news if Piper could feel her. It was more than the last few days. "Good, that's really good," he nodded. "Let me know if you need anything and I'll let you know if... when she wakes up."
If David was awake, Ben hoped it wouldn't be long before Jordan was awake. He shut their door with a quiet click.
Piper watched him go before turning her attention back to David. "Do you need anything? Hungry... thirsty?"
"Your lives demand a lot of care, and I will always do the best I can to offer you all that,' he says, knowing that he will do whatever he can to protect them. That he's failed today is part of why he's so upset, why he's tense despite the promises Piper is making to him, that he knows how he feels and knowing they are going to make it.
He nods at that, glad for her to say that. There's peace in that moment as he settles her into his arms. "We'll wait until then and then sort it all out," he agrees softly. If he doesn't trust Piper, then who is he left to trust? He has to believe in her words.
He looks to Ben, giving a nod. "We're going to be okay."
And that is what matters. He keeps repeating it, knowing that until Jordan is awake, he won't believe it. Once she is though, then he knows it'll be okay.
He nods though as Ben goes, waiting for the door to close.
"You didn't just say that for our sakes though, right? You are feeling her? She's holding strong?"
Piper smiled. "I know," she said, simply. Over the years, despite anything they might've gone through, he had shown how committed he was to them. Not just her but this family they've built. "You do a great job of it too. Especially putting up with two twenty-somethings," Piper teased him with a little smile.
Truth was, she understood how he must feel and exhaled a breath as she pressed in closer to him. "I've been so fucking pissed with myself since that day for the stupid dumb fight and not going out with her that night. I hate that you two were attacked but I'm really fucking glad that you both are still here," she said, cupping his cheek. "We will be okay."
Because, at the end of the day, they would make it okay one way or the other.
Once Ben was gone, she looked at David. "No, I didn't just say that for your sakes. I do feel her. The last couple of days, I could feel her but this time it felt like she was seeking me out too. So I have to take that as a good sign. Later, I will see if I can lend her some strength... magic and that might help."
"And here I thought we were having a moment and not bringing up my age again," he sighs, sounding so put upon and... well, old. "But yes, I'm glad to know you realize what a great effort it is for me to put up with two people so brilliant and useful and smart... and so damn young."
Because if she's going to go there, he can play into it as well.
"Don't let the anger consume you. Plot. Plan. Don't let anger cause you to lose focus." It's when you lost focus that you died, and he couldn't let that happen to her. He wasn't prepared for that to happen to her.
He nods though at that answer, because in it is what he needed to know. It wasn't just her feeling the other alive, but feeling her reaching. That was a good sign and he's glad for it.
"Don't weaken yourself in the process, okay? Not too much. If they think to try and strike while they think we're still weak, we'll need you." More than that, he'll need her, but those are not always easy words for him.
"We both know I'm highly allergic to having moments," Piper snorted, sliding her hand over the curve of his cheek. She laughed at the comment about how young they were and knew she had that coming. "Well, it does take great patience," she said, nodding very seriously.
Gods, she was just glad to hear his voice and to be able to talk to him like this. She didn't dare think about how wrong it could have all gone.
Well, she already had but now, now that he was awake and she could feel Jordan...
She heard his advice about not letting the anger consume her and nodded slowly. "Plot and plan, hm," she murmured, looking at him closely. "Even if it includes plotting and planning on going after those jackasses who thought they could pull one over on us?" Though she asked, Piper felt she probably knew the answer.
It wasn't like he enjoyed the thought of someone coming after them either.
"I won't, promise," she assured him. The last thing any of them wanted is for them to think they can strike again. "I give it another day or two at most before she's awake. My hope is by end of the day but we'll see."
"You are. The hives are quite unbecoming," he teases, even as he sighs longingly. "And I am a man of great patience. We both know that."
In technicality, he was. He could wait as long as he needed for things to go a certain way, but in the end, he's also one to want things now. Especially when it comes to moments like this, those that have been hurt and his people.
His look is unfathomable, old and curious at the same time. "Who else would I be talking about? Just know that rushing in is how things like this happen. Go at it the right way and don't let pain and other emotions ruin the revenge you deserve."
And he means it. Much as he'd like to destroy them that moment, he won't risk them again.
"And that's when we'll start planning. Once we're certain of where our strengths and liabilities lie." And he can't talk about it in such terms, but they both know he's as worried as she is. It's just not as easy for him to show it.
"Oh very patient," she agreed before laughing. "When you want to be patient." Not that she was any better, let's be honest here. She was just as bad.
Piper stared at him for a long moment and tilted her head in acknowledgment. "I know," she agreed. "And you're right, of course. It's simply not how we have handled things in the past. Not that we've had a reason to do so before. This has changed everything. Rushing into it wouldn't help."
She should have realized though that of course he would be in full agreement with the plan. He and Ben were vampires and obviously despite hanging out with two 'Chosen One' witches, they had a past.
"Agreed," she said and leaned in to kiss him, knowing he was just as worried about Jordan as the rest of them were.
There was no other choice, they had to be okay. Then they could start planning.
"That is very much the keyword," he says, nodding slightly in agreement. "When I want. As it should be. Though I mean it. I want you alive for a very long time, and not laying in a coma not sure if you'll wake up or not."
It's been a rough lesson and one they apparently needed the reminder of.
"I want you safe. I want them safe. They've used our ways against us. They knew we would rush in and this is the result. I don't want to see it happen again."
His hand cups the back of her neck, fingers tangling into the silken strands with a soft sigh as he kisses her back.
"I don't like feeling this way, or being in this position. Not for me or any of us. You know that." He pauses before adding. "Right?"
"I can assure you, the last thing I want is to be laying in a coma somewhere or gone before I'm ancient by anyone's standards," Piper assured him. "I want you around for a very long time too."
Piper sighed into that kiss and deepened it, sliding her fingers into his hair before slowly pulling back. "We'll start re-training once you're back to full strength and Jordan is up and around." Knowing the other woman as well as she did, she had no doubt that Jordan would be in agreement. "Take them by surprise if they try to pull something like this again."
"I know and I don't like it any more than you do, David. We'll protect our family. We have a few months left until she's twenty-one and then we won't have to worry as much. But, in the meantime, if you have ideas of how to best proceed, I'm all ears and I know Ben will feel the same way."
"Good. We're both fighters and we're not going to let our fates be anything but then," he assures her, and there's a fierceness to his tones that proves he means it. He has lived a while but, for him, it's only a beginning and he doesn't plan on spending it alone. Nor does he plan on spending it without her.
"I think we're going to do some research and hit them with some things people haven't seen in a few centuries maybe. If they're going to be this blatant, it's time we fight fire with fire," he says, not that he doesn't think they have been but this was on a whole new level.
"I just want to make sure we get here there, and in one piece and sane," he says with a sound that could well be a sigh. "My ideas are pulling from hellfire and necromancing but I suppose I can drawback from that if you want."
He might be teasing. He very well might not be. He may be making things up.
She nodded in agreement and slid her hand over his cheek. "Won't have it any other way." Piper knew one thing for certain and that was, she had no desire to go through this long life ahead without him by her side.
Her mouth curled up. "We did try the nice guy bit for a while but now, we can't afford to take chances. Fight fire with fire." Whether Jordan would go for it was up for debate but for now... they could start thinking and planning.
"Oh hellfire and necromancy, huh? That's all," she asked with a laugh, her eyes sparkling in amusement. "Will that involve zombies somehow because I may have to draw the line at zombies. Fresh brains can be hard to come by, you know."
And that's the thing. It's why they're here, why he will do all he can. Because he wouldn't have it any other way either, but also because she's there and he knows it.
He nods though at that. It's another reason why they work so well together, and why she's important to him. Finding someone that can match him in passion and skills is not easy but she does that and more. "Literal fire if we have to."
And he means it. He'll burn cities to the ground if he has to.
He laughs though. "Not my fault so many humans go about without them. No, I was thinking more haunting vengeful spirits. Less brains, less rot."
"Then it's a good thing I'm pretty handy with fire," she muses, not turned off by the idea and knowing a lot of it was the anger and upset she felt. But, as he said, she would focus and plan - not rush.
Her mouth twists up. "A lot of humans do," she agrees, nodding. "Ah, now that I can do. Much cleaner and less smell."
Despite her overly confident nature, there were times when she wonders and sometimes doubts that she keeps up with him as much as she wants. But then she remembers how far they came since falling back in time during that spring break and he was still here.
"It is one of your sexiest attributes," he admits, and meaning it. Her mind and her magic were the most amazing things about her, even if her body was amazing as well.
He loves they agree on this as well. The lack of zombies, maybe teaching, but not so much about spirit hauntings.
He blinks at that, sighing softly. Age and practice means he can control a lot but that doesn't change the actual need.
"Probably both," he admits. "But I can wait a bit more if we want."
He knows he can manage to control himself most of the time, even after all they've been through. Age did grant him a few things, after all.
"I'm glad you agree because I consider it one of my top attributes too," she smirks as she slides her thumb over his bottom lip.
She watches him sigh and lifts her head from the pillow to look at him, propping herself up on her elbow.
"Hey, you just woke up after being out for a week. After a nasty fight, might I add. I'd be more surprised if you didn't need anything... I know Ben gave you some..." She pauses. "You can bite me if you don't want to move. I trust you."
It wouldn't be the first time.
"I just want to make sure that you get what you may need instead of just being glad that you're awake and here. Taking care of you, instead of you taking care of me on the occasions I get hurt.

She's amazing magical, talented, and how could he not love those abilities that he's not seen in others. More than that, that he wouldn't care about in others.
He suspects this is where she is going, that of course she would make the offer to try and do what she can for him. Even if it's offering herself in that way.
A way that he can't help but want, a desire he definitely has. Especially when it's her. Just the scent of her is enough to already make him ache for this, and now even more in knowing she's willing to let him.
"Is that what you really want me to do?"
He draws her in closer, nuzzling at the curve of her jaw.
Piper watches him as he takes in her offer. Blood was blood at the end of the day but it was possible that her blood was a little more potent due to who/what she was. Regardless if it was or not, if it helps him then she was going to do it.
It was also equally possible that she likes it a little more than she was willing to say out loud.
She moves in closer and exhales a soft breath as he nuzzles her jaw.
"If it will help then yeah, it's what I want," she says softly and slips her hand to the back of his neck and into his hair.
"I'll have to keep that in mind in the future," she teases with a smile.
He isn't sure how different her blood might be but that she's offering is something else entirely. There's other options but then, at the end of the day, she's offering him this and it means a lot.
That sound she makes though, during the talk they're having, says a lot to him and he's curious of where things might go from there.
"No using my honesty against me," he teases, his mouth trailing small kisses along the spot beneath her hear and then down along her throat until his mouth brushes against the pulse of her throat. "Last chance," he murmurs against her skin with teasing kisses.
The one or two times that he's bitten her before had felt nothing like she had thought or feared. And while, yes, his bites have felt nothing short of euphoric, it wasn't solely that.
It was him - the entire package.
With him, she always seems to have a higher sex drive and she certainly couldn't complain about that too much! But that wasn't why she offers herself like this to him, it was because she truly wants to help him.
She laughs at his comment and hums softly. "No promises," she teases in return, closing her eyes a little as she settles in.
"Bite," Piper murmurs, tightening her hand in his hair.
His arms wrap around her, gathering her in close. He nuzzles tenderly at the line of her jaw, kissing tenderly beneath her ear with a soft sound of pleasure and delight.
"If you insist."
There's no hesitation in letting the euphoria wash over her with a groan as his lips brush the pulse of her throat.
And then he strikes.
It's quick and sharp, no hesitation as he moves with the predatory nature of the creature he is and lets that first rush of blood slide over his tongue.
Nearly a week ago, she couldn't have said that they would be here like this - him awake and holding her, kissing her neck... She had been so worried that she'd never feel this again.
Now, she was going to rest better knowing he was okay. That they were all going to be okay and come out of this stronger than before.
All of those thoughts come to a stop when she feels the euphoria wash over her, causing her to close her eyes and tighten her hand in his hair. She groans low as she presses in as close as she can to him, feeling his sharp teeth.
she was less likely to let just anyone else bite her as she was letting David. But it was him and that made the difference.
Fuck.

Blood at all in that moment is needed and ached for. The taste of her blood though is something else entirely. He has thought about it before now, wanting it again, but there's been this fine line.
Now there's no holding back.
His arms wrap around her tightly, drawing her in closer as he shifts, half rolling against her as he bears her back against the hospital bed. Drawing at the wounds, letting the blood wash over his tongue with a groan that is predatory and animalistic and shows just how much that taste alone turns him inside out.
Feeling the pleasure, the euphoria, and the need of it all was like a calling and he never wanted to let it go.
Biting was something that she and Jordan had discussed a couple of times, briefly. Both were in agreement that they weren't as put off by it as they had initially thought. Course, she figured, it was part of being with a vampire and falling in love with said vampire.
It was, admittedly, something she'd thought about a few times since the last time but she'd never been sure how to bring it up before.
Now, there would be no denying or hiding it. Not when she was sure he could tell how this affected her.
Not only that but there was no doubt in her mind that he liked it too.
Piper felt her back hit their bed and moaned low as the pleasure slid through her body, her hand clenched tightly in his hair. "David," she murmured, her voice huskier as she arches up to press against him. She did not want this to stop just yet.
The taste of her blood, the heat of that supple form pressed closer to him, and then the sounds she makes are intoxicating. Not that long before whether he was going to live or not was touch and go and now he's remembering what its like to truly live.
Especially with the woman he loves.
Shifting over her, his mouth working against the wounds, drawing in not only the blood but her energy. Letting it revitalize him and remind him of while he will always fight against death. Because of his life. Because of her.
Slowing a bit, lapping at the wounds. Not wanting to take too much and yet needing to hear more from her, loving those sounds and how they make him feel.
While her hand remains tangled in his hair, her other grips his shoulder with a moan, her eyes closing. Maybe later, she'll be a little embarrassed by her reaction to this but right then, that emotion is nowhere to be seen. Especially as the euphoria and pleasure continue to slide down her spine and heightens the way her body feels in response.
"You can take as much as you need," she murmurs, licking at her bottom lip when she feels him slow a bit. At that point, she didn't care. She was just glad he was here, with her still. The one that she loved beyond anyone she's ever been with. What she would have done without him, if they'd lost him - she wasn't sure. At the end of the day, she'd heal and be okay in no time herself so a little bit of blood was nothing.
Despite herself, her hips up to press against his harder body, seeking some kind of friction and pressure. "Anytime you want..." she trails off with another soft sound, before biting down on her bottom lip.
It's like there's a need to grab hold of this and not let go. Not just the taste of her blood but the way she reacts to him. No matter how close someone had come, he was alive. They had made it, and this is part of clinging to life.
Yet it isn't just that. It's being with her. It's this beautiful, powerful witch who is there with him, laying close to him and offering him so much more than just her blood. Her company. Her desires to plot the things he needs now. And her willingness to give him so much.
"I know I can," he murmurs, nuzzling at the wounds, groaning at the scent of her, the blood on his lips. "I also know if I want you to keep making those sounds, I want it to be because I brought them out of you and not the venom of the bite," he admits, a low and rumbling voice as he shifts to grind against her, his hand skimming along her side.
The moment Jordan and David were attacked, life changed and right then, she wasn't going to regret wherever these choices took them down the line.
Piper moans low as he grinds against her and bites down on her bottom lip. "Mm, I would like that too," she agrees, pressing her hips up against him while clenching his shirt in her hand.
Bite or no bite, he'd always had the ability to bring out this other side of her. Another time, she would also remember that he brought out another side of her previous life too but the last thing she needed to think about was Sionnach. Not when his hard body was pressed so close to her and his voice was low and rumbly like that.
Even as long lived as he is, there is a desire to grab hold of life and remind yourself that you're still part of it when you've had a brush with death. A desire to ensure to yourself that you made it and that everything is going to be okay. That you lived to fight another day, and they will fight. Someone would answer for this, but today isn't about revenge. It's about one another.
"Good," he murmurs, nuzzling along her collarbone, even as his hands move to start drawing up her shirt to slide his hand along her stomach and up to brush over one breast. "I'd hate to have to stop now."
Even as he chuckles, dragging fangs against her skin in a teasing touch without a bite.
There wasn't a single doubt in her mind that once everyone was back to normal healthwise, they would start planning. And while she had definitely wanted this to go to this point because she was shameless when it came to him, her motivation all along was to help him.
This - feeling his body pressed against hers, his hand on her breast, and his hard length... was an added bonus. Fuck, she loved him and had for fucking years. She arches into his hand on her breast with a low sound.
"I would really hate for you to stop too," she murmurs with a low moan and tugs his shirt up with both hands so she can pull it off him. "Never would have thought I'd like the feel of your fangs before you." But apparently, she had a thing for that hint of pain and pleasure.
Every part of him fairly thrums with desire and control. Keeping himself from letting go, from ravaging her instead of ravishing her. It would be so easy to take but what he wants to give her is sharing. Always shared between them and not unbalanced. Not if he can find the control and the care.
Ducking out of his shirt and then kissing and nipping at her neck. Careful, catching the skin and cutting it. He groans as his tongue laps over the cut, gathering up the taste of her blood with a low, wicked sound of desire. Not enough to sate him, or even to heal him, but it's enough to remind him of how special this is between them.
"I always want it to be something you want. Something you need like I need you," he whispers against the cut on her skin.
A soft hiss and moan escape her lips as he nips at her neck, drawing blood. The low sounds coming from him and the way he fits next to her and over her heightens her own desire. She can feel the want and desire course through her, wanting it all right now but she also wanted to savor this.
"You are what I want and need," she whispers, her nails pressing into his back. "And these bites of yours are something I want and need as well." Because she liked giving this to him - something of her that she wouldn't share with just anyone else.
"I love you and -," she closes her eyes tightly before opening them again. "I always need you." She was not going to think about how close she had been to losing him. Not right now.
She slides a hand from his back to his neck and into his hair, urging his mouth back to hers so she can kiss him deeply.
It would be so easy to take everything. To take her, let it be a whirlwind of lust and desire. It's taking every hint of his control to show her how important she is in this moment that he doesn't let that be what he does.
"Good. You're mine. Now. Always."
They'd nearly lost one another, suffered that of one of them going on without the other. He wants to assure her that's the past and they hadn't been taken from one another.
Drawing back, he cups her neck as he kisses her. Hard. Deep. Showing her how much he loves her, murmuring softly against her mouth.
Piper looks up at him with darkening eyes. Regardless of how independent she was, she always did have a thing for when he called her his. And now, after everything they'd been through this week, she especially didn't mind it.
"Yours. Always," she says, cupping his cheek. "And you're mine. Always."
And she'd be damned if she let him go anytime soon.
With a low moan, she returns the hard and deep kiss, scratching at his back as she presses up against him.
"I love you and need you," she murmurs against his mouth, nibbling on his bottom lip with a low sound. Her hands trail from his face and back down to the small of his back.
That Night
"I just... want them to wake up."
no subject
He comes to with barely a movement. Just slowly there is light on his eyelids, enough to make him realize he's likely been moved. It's like a veil lifted and suddenly he hears others, voices, and he knows he's survived though at what cost? And had someone else been lost.
Barely moving, shifting his fingers to try and figure out where he is without alerting others in case it's not safe. Yet he feels someone there, not by touch but he knows she's there.
"Please tell me, at least, they didn't ruin my suit," he murmurs softly without opening his eyes.

"Tell me he's okay."
no subject
She still felt so guilty and while she knew it wasn't the cause of this whole thing, it hadn't helped.
ugh I know these people's genders. Sorry.
That's what matters, okay?"
nooooo, no worries at all!
"Glad to see you're among with the living again... so to speak." He wouldn't stay long but he'd wanted to see for himself that he was okay.
no subject
He nods at that, glad to hear that from her. "How okay is okay? Can you tell?" Because he can't help but to wonder if she's coming back to them like she had been, or if they would have to adjusted to something new with her. They could, and they would, but he couldn't help but worry. For all of their sake.
Kissing her back, slow and deep, wanting to show to her how much he loves her and is as glad as she is that he's there. "Me too. It's going to be okay." It has to be okay.
Shifting to lift his head, looking at Ben. "You guys are good but entirely bringing me back from the dead is beyond even the best I know."
no subject
If only Jordan will wake up now." If there was one thing for certain, he wanted every single person involved in the attack to be made responsible.
no subject
We'll make sure that she'll be okay." No matter what it takes.
no subject
Hungry... thirsty?"
no subject
She's holding strong?"
no subject
Later, I will see if I can lend her some strength... magic and that might help."
no subject
Because if she's going to go there, he can play into it as well.
"Don't let the anger consume you. Plot. Plan. Don't let anger cause you to lose focus." It's when you lost focus that you died, and he couldn't let that happen to her. He wasn't prepared for that to happen to her.
He nods though at that answer, because in it is what he needed to know. It wasn't just her feeling the other alive, but feeling her reaching. That was a good sign and he's glad for it.
"Don't weaken yourself in the process, okay? Not too much. If they think to try and strike while they think we're still weak, we'll need you." More than that, he'll need her, but those are not always easy words for him.
no subject
My hope is by end of the day but we'll see."
no subject
It's just not as easy for him to show it.
no subject
Then they could start planning.
no subject
It's been a rough lesson and one they apparently needed the reminder of.
"I want you safe. I want them safe. They've used our ways against us. They knew we would rush in and this is the result. I don't want to see it happen again."
His hand cups the back of her neck, fingers tangling into the silken strands with a soft sigh as he kisses her back.
"I don't like feeling this way, or being in this position. Not for me or any of us. You know that." He pauses before adding. "Right?"
no subject
Piper sighed into that kiss and deepened it, sliding her fingers into his hair before slowly pulling back. "We'll start re-training once you're back to full strength and Jordan is up and around." Knowing the other woman as well as she did, she had no doubt that Jordan would be in agreement. "Take them by surprise if they try to pull something like this again."
"I know and I don't like it any more than you do, David. We'll protect our family. We have a few months left until she's twenty-one and then we won't have to worry as much. But, in the meantime, if you have ideas of how to best proceed, I'm all ears and I know Ben will feel the same way."
no subject
"I think we're going to do some research and hit them with some things people haven't seen in a few centuries maybe. If they're going to be this blatant, it's time we fight fire with fire," he says, not that he doesn't think they have been but this was on a whole new level.
"I just want to make sure we get here there, and in one piece and sane," he says with a sound that could well be a sigh. "My ideas are pulling from hellfire and necromancing but I suppose I can drawback from that if you want."
He might be teasing. He very well might not be. He may be making things up.
no subject
Her mouth curled up. "We did try the nice guy bit for a while but now, we can't afford to take chances. Fight fire with fire." Whether Jordan would go for it was up for debate but for now... they could start thinking and planning.
"Oh hellfire and necromancy, huh? That's all," she asked with a laugh, her eyes sparkling in amusement. "Will that involve zombies somehow because I may have to draw the line at zombies. Fresh brains can be hard to come by, you know."
no subject
He nods though at that. It's another reason why they work so well together, and why she's important to him. Finding someone that can match him in passion and skills is not easy but she does that and more. "Literal fire if we have to."
And he means it. He'll burn cities to the ground if he has to.
He laughs though. "Not my fault so many humans go about without them. No, I was thinking more haunting vengeful spirits. Less brains, less rot."
no subject
Her mouth twists up. "A lot of humans do," she agrees, nodding. "Ah, now that I can do. Much cleaner and less smell."
Despite her overly confident nature, there were times when she wonders and sometimes doubts that she keeps up with him as much as she wants. But then she remembers how far they came since falling back in time during that spring break and he was still here.
"Do you need anything? Blood? Water? Both?"
no subject
He loves they agree on this as well. The lack of zombies, maybe teaching, but not so much about spirit hauntings.
He blinks at that, sighing softly. Age and practice means he can control a lot but that doesn't change the actual need.
"Probably both," he admits. "But I can wait a bit more if we want."
He knows he can manage to control himself most of the time, even after all they've been through. Age did grant him a few things, after all.
no subject
She watches him sigh and lifts her head from the pillow to look at him, propping herself up on her elbow.
"Hey, you just woke up after being out for a week. After a nasty fight, might I add. I'd be more surprised if you didn't need anything... I know Ben gave you some..." She pauses. "You can bite me if you don't want to move. I trust you."
It wouldn't be the first time.
"I just want to make sure that you get what you may need instead of just being glad that you're awake and here. Taking care of you, instead of you taking care of me on the occasions I get hurt.
no subject
He suspects this is where she is going, that of course she would make the offer to try and do what she can for him. Even if it's offering herself in that way.
A way that he can't help but want, a desire he definitely has. Especially when it's her. Just the scent of her is enough to already make him ache for this, and now even more in knowing she's willing to let him.
"Is that what you really want me to do?"
He draws her in closer, nuzzling at the curve of her jaw.
"Because you know, telling you now isn't easy."
no subject
It was also equally possible that she likes it a little more than she was willing to say out loud.
She moves in closer and exhales a soft breath as he nuzzles her jaw.
"If it will help then yeah, it's what I want," she says softly and slips her hand to the back of his neck and into his hair.
"I'll have to keep that in mind in the future," she teases with a smile.
no subject
That sound she makes though, during the talk they're having, says a lot to him and he's curious of where things might go from there.
"No using my honesty against me," he teases, his mouth trailing small kisses along the spot beneath her hear and then down along her throat until his mouth brushes against the pulse of her throat. "Last chance," he murmurs against her skin with teasing kisses.
no subject
It was him - the entire package.
With him, she always seems to have a higher sex drive and she certainly couldn't complain about that too much! But that wasn't why she offers herself like this to him, it was because she truly wants to help him.
She laughs at his comment and hums softly. "No promises," she teases in return, closing her eyes a little as she settles in.
"Bite," Piper murmurs, tightening her hand in his hair.
no subject
"If you insist."
There's no hesitation in letting the euphoria wash over her with a groan as his lips brush the pulse of her throat.
And then he strikes.
It's quick and sharp, no hesitation as he moves with the predatory nature of the creature he is and lets that first rush of blood slide over his tongue.
no subject
Now, she was going to rest better knowing he was okay. That they were all going to be okay and come out of this stronger than before.
All of those thoughts come to a stop when she feels the euphoria wash over her, causing her to close her eyes and tighten her hand in his hair. She groans low as she presses in as close as she can to him, feeling his sharp teeth.
she was less likely to let just anyone else bite her as she was letting David. But it was him and that made the difference.
Fuck.
no subject
Now there's no holding back.
His arms wrap around her tightly, drawing her in closer as he shifts, half rolling against her as he bears her back against the hospital bed. Drawing at the wounds, letting the blood wash over his tongue with a groan that is predatory and animalistic and shows just how much that taste alone turns him inside out.
Feeling the pleasure, the euphoria, and the need of it all was like a calling and he never wanted to let it go.

"I love you. I need you. Mine."
